About

In brief

I am a consultant who has helped to reform companies and governments across Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. I currently work with the Independent Commission on Banking.

Professional

My first professional role was in the oversight of a government grant programme in the (then) Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in London. An increasing interest in economic development led me to join Adam Smith International, an international development consultancy, where I led a number of advisory projects throughout Africa and the Caribbean. This was a demanding but rewarding role, seeing me present to government ministers, senior officials and the press.

Following my marriage in 2006 I joined MTM London, a boutique strategy consultancy, where I worked on advisory projects for a range of UK-based public and private organisations, including Channel 4, Bauer Media and Ofcom. From there I moved to an in-house consultancy position in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, leading project teams on a variety of projects to improve the UK business environment. I have since been seconded to the Independent Commission on Banking.

I was educated at Bournemouth School and Jesus College, Oxford, where I took a First in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and subsequently an MA. I also hold a postgraduate qualification in Public Administration from the University of York.

Personal

I live with my wife, Helen, in London and Southampton. Outside of work I enjoy ethic food, reading, travel and skiing.

I support a range of causes and campaigns that attempt to make our cities and our world a better place to live in, including (but not limited to) Charter Cities, NHS Blood and TransplantLiving Streets, Living Roofs, Kiva, mySociety and Freecycle.
